Welcome To CubAir!

Takeoff

Cub Air was founded in 2006 by Steve Krog, who has been a flight instructor for over 35 years. Krog, a former marketing executive, sold his share of a marketing firm to pursue his lifelong dream of teaching people to fly. His flight school uses vintage Piper J-3 Cub aircraft to instruct in, following a philosophy that “old school is still cool.” Krog believes that these fine classic airplanes make better pilots by requiring more attention and flying skill than newer airplanes. He holds that flying a vintage airplane is as much an art as it is a science.

The Piper J-3 Cub is revered among aviators as a truly classic and iconic airplane. It has served as a trainer to more pilots than almost any airplane, earning a reputation as easy to fly but yet challenging enough to force students to continually better themselves. Cub Air uses three J-3 Cubs, restored and maintained with the same attention to detail as a lovingly restored classic car. Cub Air also uses a Piper Cherokee for training requiring an aircraft with more advanced instruments.
